My Next Move

My Next Move is a free career exploration tool from the U.S. Department of Labor. It helps you discover careers that match your interests using the O*NET Interest Profiler. Based on your results, My Next Move connects you to detailed career reports — covering typical wages, required education, and job outlook — for over 900 occupations, helping you make informed decisions about your professional goals.

Get Started:

Step 1: Go to mynextmove.org — no login or account needed.
- On the homepage, find the “I’m not really sure.” section and click Start.
- This takes you to the Interest Profiler assessment.
Step 2: Complete the Interest Profiler by rating how much you’d like or dislike doing different work activities. It takes about 10-15 minutes.
Step 3: Review your results and explore your career matches. Choose 1-3 occupations to research further, then go back to your Self-Assessment & Career Pathways Worksheet and record what you learned about each occupation.
